I’ve been working as a manual QA engineer for MTS for over a year. During this year in the company, I’ve managed to set a direction for testing practices on two different products, learned how to work in a team more efficiently (cross-team communication is involved too), and of course, gained some technical skills that can help me spot even more problems in applications. Below, I’ll shortly describe my duties in the current position.

I was fully involved in software test life cycle, which means I took part in forming and analyzing functional requirements. I tested and I worked closely with development teams in order to make the process of localizing and fixing problems smooth and fast, I also choosed methods, tools and strategies that will help my colleagues and me to detect and prevent problems more efficiently. After that part is done, I do ad hoc testing during the deployment of new releases.

API testing was an important part of the testing process, so I use Postman to perform manual API testing, I occasionally add scripts for more complicated tasks. I used SQL queries a lot on one of our projects (DBeaver is my query tool of choice), since the latest implemented features desperately require DB testing to validate different client side operations.

In both of my projects, I developed the necessary test artifacts such as test strategies, test plans, traceability matrices, test cases, bug reports and test reports.
