Results:

• Imported a few domain zones from Cloudflare to Terraform. Over 1000 L3 and L4 DNS records have been imported. Improved speed of domain records update by using Gitlab CI pipeline, improved configuration observability, reduced misconfigurations because of code review.
• Created a tool using Python to organize and keep clean a few casino configuration types in Saltstack. Improved speed of changing configuration, of completion clients requests, reduced misconfigurations and errors.
• Created a procedure of integration casinos with blog platforms by verifying domains. Improved casino functionality which attracts more clients and encourages them to spend more time on the casino site.

Tasks:

• Setting up new casinos from scratch. Bare-metal hosts for production, virtual machines for staging.
• Supporting existing casinos, responding to the casino managers requests, clarifying details, executing urgent requests.
• Migrating existing casinos between datacenters.
• Creating testing stands to expand company infrastructure globally. Backup and restore databases. Fine tuning of database configs for testing. Communication with the testing team and solving these requests in agreed terms of solution.
• Managing DNS records for new and existing casinos.
• Working as on-call admin. Day and night working shifts. Reacting to the incidents, solving the incidents according to the severity scale, creating reports about incidents, implementing measures to prevent incidents.

Results:

• Created a tool using Python which scans Gitlab repositories for hard coded IP addresses and makes detailed Excel-reports. Increased company security by moving IP addresses to protected seccion with repository variables.
• Created a tool using Python to generate Prometheus alerts templates and deploy Prometheus to Kubernetes using Helm. Increased speed of config updates, decreased misconfigurations and errors.

Tasks:

• Creation of CI/CD pipelines for deploying applications to the Kubernetes clusters and Docker hosts. Support of existing pipelines to meet developers needs.
• Maintenance of monitoring and logging systems. Configure and create alerting rules, manage connections to the messengers, update dashboards.
• Administration of cloud infrastructure used to operate the company’s services. Creation of the new VMs, IAM roles, buckets, etc. Management of sensitive data (secrets, connection parameters, etc).

Results:

• Created geo-divided bare-metal infrastructure to meet company growth. From 5k to 50k orders per day in the half of the year. Horizontal scaling of application clusters, databases, traffic balancers.
• Migrated CI/CD pipelines and repositories from Bitbucket and Jenkins to Gitlab CI. Created over 50 pipelines for different applications. Improved Time To Market metric, reduced errors and misconfigurations, improved efficiency of work in general by using integrated solutions instead of two separate products.
• Implemented Zabbix monitoring infrastructure from scratch. Increased observability, stability and reliability of infrastructure, improved quality of alerts (lesser alert fatigue).

Tasks:

• Administration of company infrastructure used to operate the company’s services. About 1000 hosts running Linux (Debian and CentOS). Both bare-metal (Proxmox) and cloud hosts are used.
• Description of infrastructure as a code. Creating playbooks and manifests to provision and set up hosts and clusters.
• Maintenance of existing and support of new CI/CD pipelines.
• Setting up traffic proxying and traffic balancing.
• Infrastructure monitoring and service logging. Creation and description of monitoring rules, alert parameters and dashboards with the statuses of services.
• Administration of Atlassian applications. Performance tuning, database maintenance, migration between data centers, etc.
