We are currently seeking an Architect for a long-term project with a global retailer based in the UK.
Role Overview
An Architect plays a critical role in aligning an organization’s technology strategy with its business goals by designing and overseeing the implementation of comprehensive IT architectures. This role requires a deep understanding of software, infrastructure, security, and data, along with expertise in architecture modeling, solution design, and problem-solving. By balancing strategic planning with hands-on technical leadership, the Architect ensures that technology investments deliver maximum business value while maintaining security, scalability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Works with business and technology stakeholders in the Finance and/or Colleague domain to understand their data needs and challenges;
- Translates business requirements into technical solutions for data acquisition, storage, transformation, and governance;
- Designs and implements conceptual and logical data models for financial data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and scalability;
- Collaborates with Product and Engineering teams to ensure the successful implementation and integration of the financial data architecture;
- Creates and maintains data architecture artifacts, including the finance data model and data lineage;
- Ensures adherence to the client’s overall technology standards;
- Works with Product Owners to shape the product vision for data products;
- Partners with Product Owners and business stakeholders to define solutions that achieve the desired business outcomes;
- Collaborates with Engineering and other Enterprise Architects to shape the overall technology strategy for Weigandt’s client.
Key Skills and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of software, infrastructure, security, and data, including architectural standards and tools;
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and the Zachman Framework;
- Experience with solution and design methodologies, including Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Event-Driven Architecture (EDA), Microservices, and API-First design;
- Proficiency in modeling tools and notations such as UML, BPMN, and C4;
- Expertise in architecture modeling, with a focus on creating and reviewing models to support business strategies;
- Strong solution-shaping and problem-solving skills, guiding solutions through their entire lifecycle;
- Experience in managing solution portfolios using Agile and Scrum methodologies for incremental improvement;
- Proficiency in technical writing, including the creation of standards, whitepapers, and cookbooks to clearly communicate technical concepts;
- Ability to critically assess new technologies and provide strategic recommendations;
- Experience ensuring compliance with security standards and integrating security into technology solutions;
- Proven ability to interpret business goals and translate them into effective technology solutions;
- Leadership in architecture design, influencing technology decisions across the organization;
- Strong communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders and securing buy-in for architecture models and strategies;
- Ability to balance simplicity and complexity in architectural design to ensure scalability and efficiency.
