Senior Backend (WordPress) Developer

We're on the hunt for an ace Senior WordPress Backend Developer to join our fully remote team. If you know your way around backend development, system performance, security, code tracing and database management - we want you! It'd be great if you also have plenty of experience when it comes to managing DevOps environments. You should have a proven track record for putting together and maintaining secure, high-performing WordPress sites and a passion for helping other developers grow. Being able to understand complex problems, come up with effective solutions and work across teams is absolutely crucial in this role. 

What you’ll do:

• Write, test, and maintain high-quality, secure code that meets our rigorous standards.
• Monitor and optimize the system performance of our WordPress installations, troubleshooting any issues as required.
• Handle Ops requests.
• Regularly update and refactor existing code to improve efficiency, functionality, and security.
• Implement and regularly monitor robust security measures.
• Leverage DataDog for real-time monitoring and performance metrics.
• Manage code repositories on Bitbucket, ensuring best practices for version control.
• Utilize Docker for software deployment and containerization.
• Collaborate with Product, and other software engineers to architect and deliver high-value features.
• Act as a mentor for other developers, fostering a supportive learning environment and promoting best practices.
• Serve as a point of contact for architectural decisions and cross-team initiatives.

It’s a perfect match if you have:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (B2-C2).
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in WordPress development.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience working with PHP frameworks like Symphony and Laravel.
• Profound experience with relational and/or non-relational databases such as MySQL and MongoDB.
• Solid understanding of system performance, with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and optimize performance issues.
• Proven experience with APIs, data structures.
• Experience with Cloudflare for managing CDN, DNS, and security services.
• Proficient with DataDog for real-time systems monitoring.
• Experience managing code repositories using Bitbucket.
• Experience with Docker for software containerization.
• Proficiency with Version Control Systems (VCS), preferably Git, and a solid understanding of (CI/CD).
• At least of 2 years of experience in a DevOps environment.

Nice to have

• Node.js, React JS experience.
