DevOps Engineer, Republic Crypto

Republic Crypto is a highly specialized team that sits within the Republic ecosystem, supporting the bold builders and investors working to accelerate the growth of web3. At its core, Republic Crypto is a web3 advisory -- composed of world-class strategists who guide crypto projects from seed to liquidity. We also facilitate broad-spectrum tokenization, power global token offerings, operate an enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure platform, and offer digital asset management.

This role lives within the Republic Crypto Blockchain Infrastructure Team who is charged with provisioning and operationally managing physical and virtual infrastructure that executes blockchain node software.

We seek to provide a globally distributed and resilient infrastructure that guarantees both performance and uptime to a level that aligns with aspirations of the broader Republic Crypto team - Global Leaders.

What you’ll do:

• You will take unrefined requirements and develop well designed and well maintained blockchain infrastructure environments.
• Develop re-usable, well designed and well tested Ansible code.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for integrating changes and deploying to production in progressively tested environments.
• Develop monitoring and alerting systems utilizing modern best practices
• Software build/release management, deployment to servers, maintenance, security and uptime to 24/7 production environment
• Design and build a globally distributed and high available infrastructure
• Ensure availability, performance, security, and disaster recovery capabilities of blockchain infrastructure.
• Maintain and develop reliable infra monitoring with lower false-positives alert rate without losing sensitivity.
• These efforts will initially be scoped to testnet infrastructure. As you mature in the role and prove capable you will be charged with increasing responsibility for high TVL mainnet infrastructure and everything that comes with it.
• Any core programming experience will also be leveraged to augment the teams various scaffolding efforts allowing you to contiue to develop yourself in this area alongside the infrastructure challenges.
• There is also a huge opportunity to be a face of our technical efforts and give talks, panels, conferencing and indeed sales and business development efforts as you continue to expand your skillset.

• Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, PagerDuty
• Programming Languages: Python, Javascript, Typescript, Golang, C#
• In our day to day, we use a combination of Scrum and Kanban. We operate with a 'just enough' process mentality.

We are a fully remote, structurally flat and tight knitted group of 4 engineers with an accumulative experience of over 60 years. Team members stem from large distributed environments such as Wayfair, Nokia and one of the largest Bitcoin ATM networks in the UK. We value ownership, openness and getting things done.

Musts for us to match:

• 5+ years of DevOps/SRE experience
• Combine business and strong Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC) mind set.
• Broad expertise in cloud and bare metal hosting environments.
• Good understanding of network protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP, and others).
• Are fluent in Ansible - this is our bread and butter.
• Excellent Linux command-line skills and generalized Linux SysAdmin expertize.
• Bring prior development experience in any language (we have golang, javascript, typescript, C#, python).
• Stand out for your proactive mindset (at the end you should tell us how to build our infra properly, not vice versa).
• Be able to troubleshoot in a context where there are no known answers. Committment to operational excellence.
• Be an SME and Owner of the things you build and support.
• Particpate in an on-call rota involving weekend rotation.

Nice to have:

• Prior experience in high pressure 24/7 operational IT environments.
• Blockchain Node and/or Validator operations experience.
• Bare metal server infrastructure.
• Linux OS tuning.

A qualified candidate can expect a base salary of $130,000-$210,000. A standard offer from Republic includes base compensation, equity options, and a highly competitive benefits and perks package.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates can be located anywhere within the European time zones, with the exception of Russia and Belarus.
