Tech PR Dissemination Specialist

We are non-profit company with a focus on AI risks. We are looking to hire a tech PR specialist (or Dissemination specialist) to help us turn our internal research artefacts into the world's common knowledge.

Different strands of our research target laypeople, security specialists, technical leaders, and policymakers. As such, we package our work in diverse formats, including:

• arXiv preprints and conference papers
• Landing pages targeting Hacker News and Reddit
• X threads
• Policy reports

As our research output increases, we are looking to hire someone to own the dissemination process end-to-end, coordinating with researchers and partners to produce quality publications.

Your work as a PR specialist could look like this:

1. A researcher hands in a rough draft of a write-up. You work together to crystallise the narrative and outline.
2. You work on the manuscript, crisply articulating the research ideas while keeping in mind the relevant theory of change. If you find the ideas unclear or weakly supported, you ask the researcher to clarify.
3. You push the work to the relevant venue (be it ICLR or Twitter) and liaise with it.

Here are the key skills one needs to succeed in this role:

• Strong communication skills: you will articulate complex technical and policy-related concepts in crisp, clear language.
• Format versatility: we target both academic journals and Reddit.
• Project Management skills: in our horizontal team you will sometimes have to herd the researcher cats.
• Strategic thinking: understanding the theory of change, technical and media context to maximise publication impact.
• Creative thinking: sometimes the best way to make a splash is to run an AR game instead of submitting a conference paper.
• Technical aptitude: you need to understand AI and cybersecurity to communicate about them effectively.

Compensation is 3000-5000$/mo depending on fit.

We prefer full-time commitment for this role, but part-time is negotiable. You are welcome to work remotely, but not from certain countries
