Blue Ridge is a rapidly growing SaaS company, founded 15 years ago in the USA, that focuses on demand planning, replenishment, and integrated business planning solutions. With over 220 clients worldwide - mostly in the US and Norway - we’re expanding at a rate of over 20% every year! Our HQ is in the US, R&D in India, and now we’re opening a brand-new R&D office in the EU.

In today’s world, especially after COVID, the term supply chain has become more familiar to everyone. At Blue Ridge, we operate in that vital space, helping businesses manage the flow of goods - from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished products to customers. Think of it like the process behind creating and delivering an iPhone: sourcing the aluminum, making the screen, assembling the parts, and finally getting it into your hands. That whole process is the supply chain, and we focus on supply chain planning to ensure it all runs smoothly.

Our solutions cover three essential areas:

Demand Planning: Predicting future customer demand so businesses can stay ahead.Replenishment: Making sure stores and warehouses have the right stock levels at the right time—without overstocking or running out.Integrated Business Planning (IBP): Aligning demand forecasts with financial and operational plans to make sure the necessary resources are available to meet customer needs.

This means we’re not just looking at tomorrow or next week, but projecting for the next year or even two years for some clients. These projections help businesses understand how much capital they need each quarter, as they need to purchase goods from suppliers. We offer around seven different inventory optimization techniques that help our customers improve efficiency. The replenishment product is where these optimization strategies come into play. It’s a highly distributed data problem, as we receive and generate massive amounts of data, which we integrate and send back to ERP systems every night. At the end of the day, we process all this data and prepare orders for customers. For example, we help distributors and retail stores in figuring out exactly what they need to order for each of their 2 million inventory items. We guide them in placing those orders with suppliers through their ERP systems, and then we run machine learning algorithms to optimize the entire supply chain. These algorithms are trained to identify the best model for each product in the system.

Our mission? To make sure businesses have the right products, in the right quantities, exactly when they need them—using smart, data-driven technology instead of guesswork.

How Our Solutions Work

Imagine walking into a large store and seeing shelves stocked with everything from toothpaste to car tires. Behind the scenes, our software helps businesses manage stock levels for millions of products. We take historical sales data, run it through machine learning algorithms, and forecast future demand. Whether it's toothpaste or seasonal Halloween costumes, we help our clients predict demand spikes and avoid shortages or overstock.

For fast-moving items, we calculate safety stock levels (the minimum amount you should always have on hand), ensuring shelves stay stocked. Our system even generates purchase orders for clients, telling them exactly how much to order from suppliers. It’s all about accuracy, and our system updates daily to keep forecasts fresh and reliable.

Machine Learning & Customization

We use 12 different machine learning models to predict demand. These models adapt to each product type and seasonality, which means our forecasts are tailored to each client’s needs. We retrain the models every week or month, depending on the client, to stay accurate as market conditions shift.

Industry Focus

We’re especially strong in industries like:

HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): 40-50% of our clients are here.Food Distribution: Around 20-30%, especially in packaged foods.Automotive: Helping businesses optimize stock levels for car parts and accessories.

Our Technological Transformation

Our software has been built on traditional technologies like .NET, C#, and databases, but as we scale, we’re upgrading. With the guidance of a new CTO, we’ve embraced big data solutions like Amazon EMR and Databricks, which gives us 16-20x performance improvements. This shift is especially important for industries like grocery, where demand changes by the hour, not just the day. Real-time data processing is crucial for this industry, something our previous system struggled to handle effectively. With the new big data infrastructure in place, we’ll be able to process data in real time, opening doors to clients in grocery and other perishable goods sectors.

Our Future Vision

We’re working towards a multi-cloud strategy, currently operating on AWS but planning to expand to platforms like Azure and Google Cloud. Our goal is to dynamically shift workloads between cloud providers in real-time, optimizing for cost and performance while improving reliability.

Current Goals

Predict Demand: Enable accurate demand forecasting within hours to support customers with short shelf-life products like groceries.Reduce Algorithm Run-Time: Our goal is to cut down the time it takes for our algorithms to run. Right now, it can take up to 4 hours, but we’re aiming to speed that up to just 1 hour.Modernize Systems: Transition from our existing systems, which are based on databases, stored procedures, .NET, and C#. Our web application is also built in C#, and as our data continues to grow, we’re encountering scaling challenges.

Building Our Future Team

To make all this happen, we’re building a talented new technology team. With 50 engineers in India and a US-based remote team (15 ppl), we’re now hiring for key positions in our new EU R&D office.
