Senior Python Engineer

Full-time, Remote, EdTech Project

We are a fast-growing startup in the EdTech sector, looking for a Senior Python Developer for a full-time position with the opportunity to grow to the backend team lead role.

Responsibilities:

• Architecture Modernisation: Work with the CTO and team to analyse the application architecture, identify problem areas, and propose modernisation solutions focusing on scalability and maintainability.
• Research and Development: Explore and implement new technologies to enhance product resilience and team efficiency.
• Performance Optimisation: Improve the performance and scalability of the application.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments (e.g., frontend, mobile, QA) to align development efforts with business objectives, ensuring smooth communication and efficient delivery.
• Code Review and Quality Assurance: Code review sessions, enforce coding standards, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code.
• Project Management: Take part in planning and managing development sprints, tasks prioritisation and estimations.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Python Expertise: Proven experience with Python 3.x, including asynchronous programming, modern language features and performance optimisation.
• Architecture Design: Experience with microservice architecture and SOLID principles; knowledge and hands-on experience with hexagonal architecture and EventSourcing is a plus.
• AWS Experience: Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, RDS, S3, SQS, and serverless architecture.
• Database Management: Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational databases, with strong SQL skills. Proficiency with SQLAlchemy.
• Tools and Frameworks: Familiarity with serverless/SAM, GitHub tools, SQLAlchemy, Alembic, TestContainers, and LocalStack is an advantage.
